Today I spent almost 50% MORE on a product because I wanted to buy it from someone I know and love rather than from a stranger. Believe it or not, people matter and your potential clients want to work with someone they like… someone they know has their best interest in mind… and most importantly, someone they can trust.
The biggest mistake I ever made in business was thinking I could succeed on my own. Even in our entrepreneurial endeavors, God never intended for us to face the world alone. Being in business for yourself can often be a lonely road, but if you ask God, He will setup divine appointments in your life. He will bring people into your life to motivate, mentor, and mold you into the person He’s called you to be.
With all that in mind, take time to get to know others. Don’t just attend your networking events wondering what’s in it for you. Find out what you can do for someone else. Build REAL friendships and relationships with the people that God sends your way. Take time to hear their story and learn to look for the heart behind each face. When you start to put people first, you’ll find that your sphere of influence will expand and you won’t even be able to keep up with the referrals.
“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’[a] 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31 (NTL)
